He returns once more to the same theme in Under a Mask (1951), which focuses on the neurotic, unbalanced and compulsive state of a student, surrounded by piles of books and cigarettes. His fear of failing his yearning for liberation has induced an anxiety-ridden state of conflict, here depicted in something reminiscent of a dream collage. (filmform)
